Got the color I wanted.  Also got the barrel channel and under butt plate wood sealed. Will start applying finish tomorrow.

Finally started browning the barrel. Making good progress.  Built myself what I call a "sweat box".  working great. I'll build a better one in the future, but this one is working for now and doing the job...for cheap.

I wouldn't think you'd need a sweat box in Harrisburg in the summer. Ought to be plenty of humidity in the summer. I know there is out past you at Dixons.

Well this way I can keep the rest of the house comfortable while this is in the workshop.  And yea it's humid outside. Cutting grass and hauling two trailer loads of mulch this morning left me soaked in sweat.  But now in the comfort of the A/C working on the rifle.

I'll be at Dixons for the fair later this month

Well, looked everything over this morning and decided "one more time".  One more time for the barrel in the sweat box and browning will be done. Will just have to neutralize it.  Also, one more finish coat on the stock.  Then I'll let everything sit for a week and do final assembly on the weekend.

1st build attempt. Bedford Co. in 45 cal from TOW Kit

Finally finished it up and put it all back together.  Been a long haul (started in Feb).  First build and was a learning experience.  Lot of little mistakes and flaws on it, but came out ok.  One I get it dialed in at the range it should be a nice handy little early muzzleloader deer season rifle.  Have to admit, really like the feel of the Bedford.

Next...another in 50 cal this time

Looks like you did a really nice job on it!  If you're like me, probably most or all of those little mistakes you mentioned will only be seen by you.  Looking forward to hearing how she shoots and to seeing your next build.

Well, she works. No parts went flying off.  Shoots decent at 25 yds for test fire.  Started at 70 gr 3f and worked up to 100 gr 3f in 10 gr increments for test. Nest time will see what she does at 50 yds.  Lock and trigger still need a little tweeking, but not much. Also got lucky, only shoots one inch to the right. Will drift the sights after more load testing.
