Just read the post below in regard to commercial tan pants - which I also have a pair and enjoy. However I have also always wanted a pair of honest to goodness brain tanned pants as well. But as people say - likely cost prohibited.
2 questions: who is reliable and offers a good brain tanned pair of pants and how much am I actually looking at for a pair?
Thanks.

Good braintan will run you around $18.00 a square foot for buckskin, and I'm not sure how much paying someone else to make your pants will cost as I've always made my own.
Below are several links to folks who might be able to help you out. :bl th up

The "German tan" is a very economic way to go,.... as is the "commercial braintan", and making your own pants is not difficult if you use an old pair of good-fitting jeans for a pattern.
I hope this helps.

I made some leggings out of the German tanned hides at Crazy Crow and was pleased with the appearance, feel and quality. I used their Grade 2 and bought two of the medium sized hides and had more than enough for mid-thigh length leggings (I am 6 feet 2 inches).

Rollingb and AMM1851 thanks for the advise and links. Will look into them for assistance.

If I had a 34" waist like once upon a time I'd make me a pair but NOT at this stage of the game!! :laffing :lol sign

:laffing :bow I know EXACTLY what you mean,... the surprisin' thing is, my legs don't require any more "material" then they ever did. :laffing :toast
