Hairy Flap Question...
« on: February 06, 2012, 08:56:22 PM »
OK. A feller ordered a bag from me with some badger fur on the flap...which isn't a problem, except that I am not real certain how to attach it to the bag. I am thinking that I will glue the veg tan piece that I had cut out for the flap to the back of it and then attach the whole thing to the bag. Obviously I'm gonna have to dye it first.

Thanks folks.

Thats how I'd do it, and if your going to band the flap.... you'll need to shave most of the hair off the width of the band, otherwise it will bunch up under it and look like billy hell!

About 35 years ago I made a double bag for myself. I put muskrat fur on the flap and just glued it on with contact cement. It lasted for a lotta years an would probably still be ok today but I hung it in my shed one winter an the mice lined their nest with the fur... :Doh!
