Hey Bigsmoke, 14 years ago you posed a question about an inscription on your friends powder horn.
(A Meso Burn ) Now I know that's a long time ago, and I can't remember what I had for breakfast today. Did you ever get a clarification on what that phrase meant?
-
All I know for sure is that I haven't had breakfast yet, but I think it might happen pretty soon.
Honestly, I am not sure what I was even asking about, but no, I don't recall ever getting an answer. But that is not positive either. Ain't getting older fun???

You must have listened to my Dad; that was one of his favorite sayings! :laffing

He was born in 1910, I in 1944....

At the moment, it beats the alternative!

I take comfort in the fact that I've forgotten more useful stuff than these young kids will ever know. :laffing :laffing :laffing :laffing

Was the friend or the person who originally owned the old horn Scottish ? "a meso burn" might be Gaelic for something akin to "a mid, or small, stream". Was the horn decorated with a forest with a creek running through it? Just guesses, but maybe this is a lead.

Wow!!! A 14 year old question... I'd be lucky to remember a question 14 minutes ago... :Doh! :laffing

After reading all of these posts, I believe it's safe to say there aren't too many youngsters in this assoc. What a shame.

No, I expect there's not, but that's not all that bad. I'd rather see the youngsters out doing (taking part in this pastime / or something constructive), over hanging out on a computer talking about it. That's what really promotes this pastime, IMHO...

You're absolutely right about that Joe. I never thought about it like that. I would rather had a young buck with me hunting with his smokepole today, instead of reading about hunting with one on the computer.
