Title: Finish Question
Post by: butterchurn on June 23, 2008, 12:41:57 AM
I picked up some permalyn  sealer and finish from Track just to try them out.  By following the instructions my test wood came out super glossy.  Like a mirror!  Also hard as a rock, imervious to water. Were finishes like this seen or even common in the 18th century?

BC there is a finish discussion going on at the moment at the americanlongrifles.com bulletin board in the gunbuilding section, look under in the stock sealer post, some pros and cons for permalyn, its a free site, just have to get a user name, hope this helps, Beav
