Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and am finding lots of good info here.
I have this flask that I am trying to learn more about. My kids gave it to me and I would like to find out who made it.
I cannot find any sort of mark or stamp anywhere on it. The flask is copper with a brass cap and brass thumb lever. The 3 screws that hold the cap to the flask are iron.
The design at first appears to be the standard Colt Civil War pattern with cannon and flags. However, this one is different than any I have been able to find.
1) The initials 'US' where the rifles cross.
2) No crossed pistols on it anywhere.
3) The lanyard attachments are both on the right side.
Any information that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

First guess would be Pedersoli.

That was my first thought too. But the design doesn't match up to anything I've been able to find, Pedersoli, Uberti, ArmiSport, etc. All are similar with small variations, but all seem to have a pair of crossed pistols somewhere, the lanyard rings - if present- are on oppsite sides, and none have the 'US ' initials where the rifes cross.
I'm sure it is some form of Italian import, but the fact that it is uncommon makes it a bit of a mystery piece.

The design of the flask would probably be from the British Sykes era. The Valve probably Colt? 1800-1870.
