Title: Pics of my .62 after re-work
Post by: jtwodogs on September 12, 2011, 08:41:49 AM
Sent it back to Steve.
Filed the flats, and gave it French grey instead of Brown (I think fits the rifle better), polished the lock, and blued the screws, installed a sling and opened the flash hole just a tad.
Have no complaints with it now. She goes bang every time no matter how much powder I put in the pan. Very accurate to boot. Tempermental flinters can be frustrating but when they are "Tuned" correctly, they are defintely a thing of joy.

Thanks for all the kind words. Ky. early muzzle loader season ended today. No deer but went to the range to unload and send a few down range. She was shootin good so I stretch her out to 75 yds. I put two in the 10X ring about an inch a part and figured I would quit on a good note.
I could not be happier with her. I even told a freind today I will probably be hunting with it during modern gun season.
I do have a question for the "Sages":)
I am 51 and it is getting harder and harder to see that front sight, I know there are things like the merritt disk, don't really want to do that. Any advice that might help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Fuzzy sight woes are the reason--aside from looking really cool--that all my barrels are pretty long. Also, all my rear sights are ahead of the "balance point." Try not looking at the rear sight at all; just let it sort of fuzz out as your eyes want it to. Work at just picking up the front sight and the target.
