Lets see.  I've used Dupont, Elephant, Goex, G-O and Jacks Battle Powder (Made by Goex).  All performed satisfactorily.  I especially like JBP & Goex.

I've got three cans of Elephant 2F left from about 7 years ago. It's exceptionally dirty stuff but it does get a load out the end of the barrel and on it's way. I wouldn't hunt squirrel with a .45 cal rifle. Last time I shot one, it came outta the tree in two pieces. That said, I don't hunt anything any more but if I did, I'd use a smaller bore rifle.

You've got em coming in .45. Don't sweat it just shoot front half of the squirrel. Never tried a .20 or .25 but for sure a ham shot w a .32 and 20 gr of FFg won't leave much tree rat to brag about.

Yes FFg Goex for main charge in all my MLs. More consistent over the chrono screens. And Goex 4F in the pans.

My .45 has more rounds through the barrel than any other of my rifles.  My load is 60 grains of 3F since I no longer shoot squirrels with it.  If I want to shoot squirrels these days I go to a smaller bore rifle.  But if I WERE to go squirreling with it I'd try 30 grains and go down to find small game accuracy.

You did fine. When I was shooting CAS I shot 2 cases of Swiss a year. I did that for two decades. Back then it was much cheaper. It's not worth what they get for it now. It's $10lb more than Shuetzen and $7lb more than Goex. Swiss is a good powder and has quite a bit more power, but it's not as clean as some say it is. It's still black powder and black powder is dirty. Swiss has built up a rep and they make you pay for it now. I won't pay for someone else's greed.

I shoot with Goex now. It's a good powder.

I use Goex and have preferred it for 40 years. I'm sure the other powders mentioned are good as well. All my load information I keep is based on Goex so as long as it's available, I'll never switch. With this said, I'm certainly glad we have some powder choices. There was a time when we only had the Goex when Elephant went out of the picture, and Goex hung right in there supplying us even when they had some factory misfortunes. So with all this said, I will always remain loyal to Goex - and once again I'm glad we have choices.  :shake

Welcome, clevefails.  I have the twin of your rifle only mine's a .36.  Actually my .45 is a TVM, too.

my .45 finaly came in from tvm,looks as good as my grandsons. I will post pics. this weekend.It has a Colerain A weight swamped barrel.Any one have the same barrel to recommend a good ball and patch combo.I tried .440 ball with .018 patch,with fair groups
