Crossbow strings should be endless, then you need but a board, and two pegs. Just remember to serve the loops before the centre.

Here are plans for a flemish twist string jig for a full size bow. The numbers on it represent strand length, not string length. I know nothing about crossbows but I am guessing that a 36" crossbow needs a string about 32"-33" long. For that short of a string, I would make my pigtails 6" so 32" + 6" + 6" + 2" (fudge factor) gets you a strand length of 46". Make the board length something like 14"-15" instead of 30" and that should get you what you need.

If you can't make out the picture well enough, I can send you the actual plans. Hope this helps!

Darren

I agree with Woodrock - the served endless loop will hold up much better.  Crossbows get a lot of string pressure with the short but high draw weight.  Also the string nocks are often quite harsh.  Email me a digi pic of the prod so I can evaluate.

OBTW - crossbow strings have a low brace height so the strings are usually an inch or
two shorter than the measured back of the prod from nock to nock.

Thanks for the info and plans. On the two CB forum I'm own most everyone puts a Flemish string on. They say they get a few more fps and is a little quieter.I have a buddy that is sending me two Dan Miller string to try. Also I have a tool that will twist my thread which should make the making of one go a little faster. I just enjoy learning and trying new thing. Thanks again

Since a crossbow usually drags on the stock as it comes to rest, the speed in compromised
anyway.  I really believe that durability is more important.  The Flemish twist string is not as
durable since it does not have serving.  True it is strong since it has all the strands of the string,
but I add a couple extra strand to the loops on my EL strings to make up for it.

Try it your way, then call me if you find your sting loops giving out sooner that you thought  :Doh!

Fletcher, This is all new to me. I have a endless string on now. And have two of Millers coming. I'll give them a work out to see what one last longer.

If you make a string board, put feet on it so you can sit in a comfortable chair, hold the feet between you knees and make strings.
