Can someone suggest a source for brass bore brushes in .54cal with an 8-32 thread.

TOW doesn't carry them.

Try "The "Gunworks" catalog on line or the Log Cabin shop.

MSM/ Cain's makes them.  MSM = Mountain State Manufacturing.  At least they used to.  in days gone by, I probably bought half a ton of them - 8/32, 10-32, shotgun thread, whatever.  I think they went from .32 cal up to 10 gauge.
