Where are all the "Sportsmen"?
« on: October 21, 2022, 09:45:23 AM »
I went to the Athens Fish & Game Club meeting last night.  Only 13 people were there, whereas pre-Covid we normally had 30 - 50.  Total membership is down to 195 or so, including the new guy we voted in last night (a OU student, he was one of the 13 attendees).  Financially we are just keeping our heads above water, and what I hear this is common with a lot of the clubs around the nation.

With Ohio not allowing target shooting on public land except at designated ranges there are only two places to shoot around here, and AF&G Club is one of them.  This doesn't bode well for the shooting sports!

No, it does not!!!

Much of it may have to do with higher prices on everything, sad to say... Hang in there Kees. Sooner or later - it has to get better as long as the citizens remember that we the people can
make a difference as long as we continue to exercises our rights. Right now, everything is tight
(money wise) for many people... It's just a fact that can not be ignored.

.

I'm thinkin' that more traditional muzzleloading folks are now getting into age/medical issues than pre-COVID has a lot to do with it.

I know that I had to stop hunting & resign from my fun club due to medical issues....  ;banghead;

I think that "The Golden Years" are more like "The Rusting Years".....................

I'm thinking they're called "golden years" because that's what it takes to get through them.

The only thing golden about the golden years is the color of your pee.  Some famous old guy said that.   :bigsmile:
