And my monthly 25 yard Flintlock Rifle scores continue to drop... :Doh!

I shot a 45 in April, then a 43 in May, now a 42 in June... Might be time to face the fact that I'm not the Flintlock Rifle shooter I use to be when I was younger... But,,, flintlocks are so danged fun to shoot, and it's darn good practice for if (and maybe even when) it might become the rule of the land, rather then a choice...

Anyway, it's still all good fun!!!  :hairy

Sorry to say I'm in the same boat, Joe. To look at it another way, even professional athletes (remember professional sports?) have days, even weeks, they'd rather forget.  However, as you said, it is indeed fun and good practice, and it helps keep us humble. :lol sign  :shake

Indeed it does Maven. Indeed it does...  :toast :shake

My next trip out I'll see if I've corrected what I feel is (hopefully was) the problem... Both front and rear sights had the about a .020 thousands cant - so I corrected that (the rear sight last night and the front sight when I got back from the Range this morning)...

Also, I was just out in my work shop going through some aiming exercises -picking up the rifle and aiming it,,, then realized I haven't been aiming with both eyes open (which I normally do)... Boy, you get older and you forget things... LOL!!!

Though I don't know if I'm just slacking off because I'm shooting by myself as I never seem to take "practice" very seriously like I do when shooting with others on the line such as at Rendezvous, or a plinking outing with friends, but I do know I need to practice my mechanics all the time (to include the TMA Postal Matches), which on reflection I don't think I am...

Still, those bad days at the Range are still better then a day at work...

Had a pretty good 50 yard Rifle Target this month (actually scored higher then my 25 yard target)

Anyway, here's a picture... The hole where the patch is laying under it was the first shot from 50 yards - I recovered the patch 'cause I was shooting ol' Candle Snuffer and I thought this was very unusual for this rifle as it's notorious for its first shot accuracy...

I noticed on the left and right side of that patch where the ball was centered - the material is stressed and I can't say for sure that this caused the problem of a flyer right off the bat, (as the other 4 following shots found the 10 Ring) but it may have had something to do with it... 'course, I haven't shot ol' Snuffer for quite a'while, but I'm still very happy with the other four shots...

:hairy Very good, Joe!  I wish I could get my 25 target to look like that 50 yard you shot!  Sheesh, if that first shot had been in with the others it would have been a score of 50!  In fact, not just very good, but VERY GOOD!!!  Congratulations! :toast

Thanks Kees  :shake

That's the way the game goes, but I'm plum happy with that 4 shots group. It gives me hope I might be coming out'a my shooting slump... I didn't even have any wind to blame this morning... :laffing

Nessmuk, your targets for June arrived today - and your scores are posted... :shake

A bit of interesting information here; Your envelope was post marked June 30 (which is 100% a-o-k) and just a bit of info here - they arrived today July 7th... Now I know we had the 4th of July holiday, but this still surprised me that it took that long to get here and we're really not that far apart... Isn't that something... :Doh!

I'm  not surprised ,  letters to my daughter in Tacoma routinely  take 10 days.
