Post by: badger8985 on January 09, 2013, 10:29:34 PM
A close friend passed away and I was given his J P McCoy flintlock. A beautiful gun and I would like to learn more about it but can't seem to find anything on the internet, any help. It is in excellant condition and  I would like to get a fair value price for my insurance but can not find anything.
           Thanks Badger

ya might want to try the knowledgeable guys on the American Longrifle forum...if there is any info on old flinters, those guys will know it, and probably have a fair market value for it as well.

Its kinda what they do there... http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php (http://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php)

Jim and Patricia Searls owned JP Rifle Stocks until they sold it to someone around 2000 +/-.  The new owner has not done anything with it that I have heard of.  It was located in Las Vegas and run out of their garage.  After the business was sold, they moved to CA to raise hunting dogs.
The JP McCoy is valued anywhere from $690 to 350 depending on condition.  Add $20 for flintlock.
I had one of their JP Henry's for a while.  It was a great gun, really liked it.  Stupidly, I sold it.  Dumb, dumb, dumb!!
Values from 6th Edition Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Arms.
Hope this helps.
John

JP gunstocks was sold to a fella who I met in Gladstone,Mi. he worked for CVA for years and is doing nothing with the equipment that I know of. I moved from the area soon after meeting him. I purchased an original Curly NW trade gun fromhim, really a nice guy. Miss-placed his number in the move,I'll fimd it soon.
