Mans Best Friend
« on: March 02, 2021, 11:17:10 PM »
Well I never wrote such a thing but here goes. Our family companion, Schatzie(age12) developed some irreversible problems over the last 6-8 months. Most recently a fast growing tumor, diabetes, faulty adrenal gland and severe heart murmur. As his vet said, he is a beautiful mess. Well yesterday after more tests and  xrays she estimated him not to make it to the weekend and the closer it got the more pain and suffering he would endure. We new he deserved batter than to suffer , so as of tonight he has crossed and is on the great scent trail in eternity.
We never as a family could have imagined how we would get attached to this little guy 4.5 yrs ago when we adopted him from the rescue. We have been blessed to have him in our lives.
Good boy Schatzie! Forever in our hearts.

My sincere condolences, Dan.

Our dogs are family and losing one is heart wrenching for sure.

When we lost our last one, the wife said "No more dogs, too traumatic!", and a month later we got two.

Sorry to hear this Dan.
Many of my dogs have gone on before, so I recognize and appreciate your feelings of the loss.

Darren's poster reminds me of a thought I had YEARS ago about dogs... they die sooner cause they give every ounce of themselves EVERY Day...

Mankind would do well to mimic that.

Being allergic to all feathered and furred critters I never had a house pet...

As a wee tyke I did have a beagle-rat terriror cross thatWe kept tied in the garage, that I played with a lot as small boys will do... when we moved to town (I was 5.5 yrs old)  we took TEDDY to a farmer's market and he was sold... I saw a family engage him he seemed to like so hopefully they got him...

It surely does leave a "hole" when they're gone...

find yourself another dog quick to share your love with and their with you... Read Darrens post again...

Well, Dan, sure sorry to hear about this.  Them darn little fur balls sure do worm their way into a person's heart.  And when they depart this plane, they leave a huge hole in the heart.
Years back we had a miniature poodle who had no idea she was a dog.  I think she thought she was a people.  Smart, athletic, entertaining, lovable, all she wanted to do was love and please.  When she died at age 15, I decided I could never have a dog as good as that so I never replaced her.  No doubt, we have missed out on a lot of good times.

My condolences go out to you.  We had to have Frankie, the husky in my avatar put down last week and I commiserate with you.  He was almost 14, would have been with us for 13 at the end of April.  He and Schatzie will be waiting for us when our time comes.  Probably running around together now....

Dang, I'm tearing up again.
