Title: Question on Schutzen Powder
Post by: Bigsmoke on April 23, 2022, 02:42:08 PM
I am figuring on my vacation going to four different rendezvous, one in Montana, two in Idaho and one in Washington.  And, I am thinking that I will shoot at all of them.
So, last year at the Coeur d'Alene rdv, I won two pounds of Schutzen Ffg powder and I was thinking about taking that with me to use.
Question is, those of you that have shot with this powder, how would you compare it to GOEX?
I would just as soon use this as deplete my remaining stock of tin can GOEX.
No idea why, just the way I am wired.  Some would say that some of my wires are indeed crossed. :luff:
Thanks for any answers.

I'm in Montana, so dry climate.  For me, it seems to foul a bit less, and softer fouling than GOEX, with equal accuracy. You may need to adjust your load slightly. I'm on my 4th case of 3FFF.
Which rendezvous are you going to in Montana?

Going to stop by the Wild Horse RDV outside of Missoula on Memorial Day.
Will be going to the Coeur d'Alene RDV the 2nd weekend in June.
Then to the Moscow RDV in Troy, ID (Hog Heaven) on Father's Day.
Then on to Colfax, WA the following weekend.
Then back to LaLaLand after that.
I just thought of something.  The Tall Trees RDV in Smith River, CA starts on 7/1.  Wonder if I can talk Mrs. Smoke into going to that as well?  Something to think about.  Then we could just take the 101 south to get home.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

John,

I've only tried Schutzen twice and it was the 3fg... Years ago, my neighbor bought some to try. We both felt it just didn't have the "kick / Power" that the Goex has. However,,, it performed very well, but like you - I prefer my Goex.

I think the Schutzen would do okay for you, and I'll admit that I'm one of those old dogs that can't learn new tricks.  :shake

Most folks know Waksupi where ever Black Powder is shot. The man knows well of what he speaks.
I've know / know of him, since the old daze of shooters.com and "Cast Boolit" some 20 some years I suspect.
If he says it's going rain, look for an Umbrella....just stay the heck out from under big trees!

Welcome back to the forum Rick....I thought you might be in England Shooting with the big guys.

Russ...
