Anyone know or have used this powder . I have a can ,an old rusty can . I will post pictures soon . It says Rifle powder on the can and no 3f or fff or any other f markings ,but it does have a "A" on the front label.

I know the company is still in business although they don't make black powder anymore. They got their start making blasting powder and detonators in about 1833. They are still in the explosives business.

That would be the company. Also on the label in a diamond shape it says something like "since 1833 and ever since".
I will try and post some pictures today. The can is a rusty mess and the cap is tight, but the powder can still be heard when you shake the can.

Just a precaution I always take with unknown powders, pour a little out on the ground and toss a lit match on it. BP will flash. Smokeless will burn more slowly. I got smart to this after a friend brought over an old can of DuPont that he had found at an estate sale. I looked at the powder and it could have passed for FFFg BP but really didn't look "right". We did the "flash test" and it turned out that he had some sort of smokeless in a DuPont BP can. It would have been bad had he poured a charge of that down his Hawken.

Will do the test if I can get the cap off. It is rusted on very tight and will need a little assistance.
