Winter gun projects 2024

(1/2) > >>

BEAVERMAN:
OK now that the hunting season is winding down and winter is here and time to hibernate back into the shop, what gun projects are you working on this winter?

Me, I'm finally going to start putting my cherry Kibler Woodsrunner together, it's been sitting here since early August, I'm going to take my time and enjoy the process this time, I also have a couple of production guns in remodel mode to finish and sell off, (time to thin the heard a bit) then there's the leather and horn projects to get at, time to stop goofing off!

KDubs:
Im hoping to remove the old finish from this pecatonic river Virginia Fowler, reshape some of the wood around the lock, thin the forend etc.
Then try to bring out the maple curl . The finish now is muddy.  Just don't like it keeping the lock n barrel as is.

 Hopefully start after the holidays.

Hank in WV:
I really should start building again. I know I have at least 6 locks and 4 stock blanks in the basement. Tough working at the bench when your neck hurts as bad as a toothache and failing eyes.

LongWalker:
I hope to finish getting my shop set up (for the record, I HATE MOVING).  If I can get that done, I'd like to get my GRRW Leman converted to flint, and some minor repairs done.  I'm probably going to have to slab off the lock plate moulding, then add wood and re-inlet the lock.

Then I want to get a new bag and horn made just for this rifle.  I don't want a repeat of using the wrong measure to load little .50 cal Leman.  Let's just say that 5 1/2 drams of FFg may have been a bit vigorous.
