Title: Pattern 1776 infantry rifle ??
Post by: Puffer on November 21, 2019, 02:16:46 PM
The Pattern 1776 infantry rifle was built by William Grice, and was based on German rifles in use by the British Army during its time. About 1,000 of these were built and used by the British Army. The rifle was given to light companies of regiments in the British Army during the American Revolution. The Gun is .62 Calibre with a 30.5 inch barrel
The weapons were shipped to troops in America, where they were dispensed across Crown Forces - five were issued to each Light Dragoon troop and each company of British Army light infantry regulars, as well as Loyalist regiments like the Queen’s Rangers, who possessed an entire, dedicated rifle company.

Is a reproduction now made ?? If so who ??

I have always had a soft spot for military weapons, and love the looks of this one. It is short and "Jaegerish," both of which are compelling to me. The long guns are classy and beautiful, but there is something really business-like about this guy. I could easily see carrying one of these... :hairy
