found this on an ozy web site the gun is in Sydney Australia, this is so nice.

DIXIE GUN WORKS "TENNESSEE MOUNTAIN RIFLE" .50 NEW 56/5 inches long! This magnificent piece work started life as a very ordinary kit gun, that's before Gun stock Services got through with it... It now has a new Hickory ram-rod instead of the original pine dowel, tuned set trigger and action, crowned muzzle, browned barrel and a nicely stained stock. Just Beautiful!--$950

What a beautiful rifle. I've owned three of them. They are great rifles. I currently own a .32 caliber. Are you going to buy this one?

no it would be to tall for my gun safe and i am not going to fork out $400 on a new gun safe just for tha,.there is not maney of those in oz you would be lucky if there was a dozen of them thats why the price is so high.

In praise of the Dixie Tennessee Mountain Rifle:
Year ago I owned a .50 Dixie. It was a great shooting rifle. I own many trophies with it. I could just kick myself for trading it. I traded it even for a custom made Leman rifle. The only reason the guy traded it is because he knew how good my dixie shot. It was a good trade for me as far as money was concerned but it could not compare to the Dixie in shooting. I know have one of the .32 caliber Dixie Tennessee Mountain Rifes but one of these days I hope to have another .50 caliber.
It's hard to believe that Dixie does not sell those fine rifles any longer.

Here's my gun safe. My camping and rondy partner, Ozzy. 100# Amer. Staffordshire Terrier. (Pitbull on steroids) Oz is sweet as a sugar bun unless you are where you shouldn't be and I'm not close by.

I am the proud owner of a Dixie "Poor Boy" model of that rifle (has a round patch lube hole in the stock instead of a metal patch box) that is Left handed flint in 50 cal. Don't shoot it much since I'm a terrible flint knapper and there's not a lot available in my rural area. It currently resides over my bay window in my computer room and I see it constantly. Love the lines of the thing even if it is on the heavy side.

My son is looking to buy a percussion Dixie Tennessee Mountain Rifle in either .32 or .50 caliber. Anyone have one for sale? There's a guy on GunBroker that has one but he's asking WAY TO MUCH! I bought one that was unfired a few months ago for $450 shipped. That's about the price range he is looking for.

I think that is a more resonable price for one here in the states, $950 here will buy a lot more gun.

$950 Ozbux is approx US $609.40 right now (2-18-09). Still a tad pricey.
