« on: October 13, 2019, 06:21:42 PM »
#1 = If you are a fur trader & trade with the "Native American Tribes" Know The Difference between HIGH WINE & just Wine.

HIGH WINE =
During the first part of the nineteenth century, the fur trade, the traders were dispensing “high wine” or “Indian rum” (a diluted alcohol) :Doh!

The Fur Co.s  did ship Actual WINE to their "houses, posts,Ft,s etc" For consumption by the clerks & above
the 2 most often listed are ---
MW
Madeira Wine
PW
Port Wine

Note : Actual Wine was an important ++ with those of "clerk status & above"

Should have made it to rondy this year Jack, we were sampling 4 different port wines sitting around the fire in the eves, had some fine Aussie port, a nice Tawny port from Portugal a Spanish Tawny, and, wait for it... the consensus for the best port that we all liked was from Yakima of all places!

My Copeñero and myself polished off a mixed case of Ventoux and Côte du Rhone (as well as several bottles of distilled spirits) at the RMNR this past season. Apparently we enjoyed ourselves and entertained the multitudes in our area with choruses of "Coal Black Rose, Uncle Ned, and Ol’ Zip Coon".

Well Unc, we were off our usual course, usually we have high end tequila tasting followed by some excellent barley pop (usually Summer Shandy) every eve, so...  this year was a step up! they even sell Boones farm or Annie Green springs anymore?
