Thank you for posting this, Rob.
I checked my GPR Serial number A596588 and it would appear I'm not safe;
A595960 (A596588) A599026
Well darn it! I best get moving on this.
Rob, is there any way to post this recall as a link somewhere on our home page header?
Thanks again,
Joe

i've created a session popup announcement window.
the problem is with the breech plug and not the barrel. some, but not all, plugs are defective and need to be replaced.
lyman is asking for the barrels to be returned only because most folks can't remove the breech plug.
this is not a lyman problem, it's an investarms problem - so, this will also affect all investarms guns rebranded as lyman, cabela, DGW, etc.

Thanks Rob, saw it, it looks good. :bl th up
I give Investarms credit for addressing this problem. Something by the way a well known American company did not do until just recently after (50 years) and it cost the lives of many people (both young and old) by denying they had a trigger/safety problem even after the Inventor of that trigger/safety system said it would fail.

Good work on that "Pop-up"....it's working just fine. :bl th up
And, I agree about InvestArms......
THEY should have been in the lead on this from the instant of discovery.
Good on Lyman for stepping up.
That act speaks Volumes about the brand.

I have tried to find this on the Lyman site, and have even contacted them for the "official" word. Where were you able to find the recall info? Thanks
-
i haven't seen anything about the recall on the lyman website. recall info by way of midsouth shooters.

I received a letter from Midway USA informing me of the recall on 2/21/2018.
I feel pretty sure just about everybody that had placed a order received this same letter.
In fact, I received that letter even though they had cancelled my order for the GPR Flinter, last year, after a 3 to 4 months waiting period when I received another letter saying that due to record sales response the Rifle was no longer available.
Apparently they went through their Orders, and not their Shipping Records for this notification.
Below is a quick Screen Capture of the letter I got
I also got a letter from Mid-South Shooting, which is much more detailed and looks like the Letter Rob posted.

I spoke with Lyman and filed the claims & they emailed return invoices. So in a few weeks will get boxes and labels as per phone my discussion.
According to what I was told the problem is in the breech plugs some manufacturing error. IMO probably heat treating ???
Sure sux seeing as I had 2 delivered 2 weeks ago. :Doh!
I found this out while searching for round ball moulds it popped up on MidSouth Shooters page.

Just talked to Lyman. The first return boxes they sent out didn't hold up. For those of us that haven't received a box, cardboard tubes will be sent out next week.
Replacement barrels will be shipped starting the end of April according to the nice lady at Lyman I talked to this morning.

Thanks for the heads-up.
I've not recieved my shipping box or instructions as yet, but it should be coming soon I expect. :bl th up

Ohio Joe - That Well-Known American company also crippled a large number of people because of faulty steel and design in their very popular shotguns. OK for hunters who don't shoot all that much but some fatigued when used for skeet shooting. Well Known Co. has very good lawyers. Plaintiff's lawyer told me Well Known Co. had paid a nice young lady $500,000 for her left thumb. This all about 1990. Plaintiff's Lawyer did OK this time, had fine Illinois college prof, retired to AZ, as expert witness. Don't ask me how I know.
Many, many cheers for Lyman!
