Home made GPR peep sight
« on: November 05, 2018, 09:22:01 PM »
Today I made a peep sight for my Lyman GPR .54, the sight is made out of a piece of angle iron, drilled to the size of a commercial "Ghost Ring", and soldered to the rifle's breech.
This rifle will be used strictly for hunting since a sight like this isn't allowed in competition shooting at rendezvous.
The center of the "Ghost Ring" is 0.265" above the barrel flat, so I'll still have to file a bit off the Lyman front sight when I sight it in 2" high at 25 yards.  :)

How large is the aperture, and about how far forward of your eye does it sit?
Lastly, how did she shoot?!?!

The aperture measures 0.175" and is 7 1/2" forward of my eye.  :bl th up

Sad to say, I've been too busy to cast up balls and shoot it yet,.... and the front sight still needs to be filed down to shoot center.

Over all,... a 100 yd. target looks nice and clear through the peep along with the front sight,... so it should work well for me.  :bl th up
