Is it me, or has the overall activity on these forums dropped off since the Facebook page was shut down?
-
I am not sure for the reason, but I have also noticed a drop off in activity recently.
-
I know for me that bow season opening in my state has kept me offline.

I sincerely doubt shutting down the FalseBook page has caused drop in posts. It's more likely the Covid 19 caused cancellations in Muzzleloading Events that has caused the drop. Let's see if hunting season brings the posts back up.

In the past things get quiet around here during hunting season as a lot of us are in the woods as much as we can be, then they usually pick up again right before Christmas when folks are indoors more for the winter
-
I also believe the corona virus is to blame. I know I'm not getting out to shoot except once in a while, and it seems like I'm pretty well "talked out" for now. I check the site pretty near daily but haven't really had
mush much to contribute.

I noticed this phenomenon a few weeks ago. I was going to post and ask y'all to post more so that I would have somethin to read everyday during this pandemic. :applaud
-
I can't speak for others, but I've personally been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest, just tryin' to get ready for the coming winter.
That's why my posting has slowed down a bit. :hairy
-
Well I've never been a very big poster, so I guess I'm holding my own.
-
Speaking of posting, I think the final date for the posting contest was September 20. What happened, who won, who gets the free ten years membership? It was ten, wasn't it, or was it only one year free? Sometimes I get a little fuzzy on these details.

You won my good man! :laughing :bl th up
I thought I had posted the results, but I guess I didn't. :Doh!
I have the post counts for those of you who entered.
The contest did end on the 20th. so I'll have to find the paper with the numbers on it (if anyone wants to know the score). :bl th up
The prize was 1 month free TMA membership, wasn't it,.... or maybe it was for a whole year, I'll have to go back and check to be sure. :laffing :applaud

Unless hunting season has run all summer, it ain't that.

Unless hunting season has run all summer, it ain't that.
Our website stats say different,.... in fact June, July, and August were our busiest months (so far) this year.
Our website is also seeing more activity,.... than the 3 previous years (and this year isn't even over yet). :bl th up

A thousand new topics in July? Almost 2300 new posts? I don't think so. Wasn't that the reorganizing of the forums?
Even June and August are statistical anomalies. Something is skewing those numbers, and September looks to be on track with the rest of the data pre-June 2020.
So all in all, it's basically remained the same once you remove the outliers.

And it also appears shutting down our TMA facebook page had no effect on forum activity. :bl th up

Yes, that was the forum "re-org" that skewed July and August, but not June, nor September.
The TMA will continue to have a Facebook presence, but no conversations will be allowed on that page.

I rather think what Nessmuk posted has a whole lot to do with TMA traffic... I expect we'll see an up surge come ML hunting season.
Also, one should keep in mind that it just wasn't the ML events (like the Rendezvous) that were cancelled,,, there were an awful lot of Shooting Ranges that shut down. And now we have all these fires that have effected many a folks... Hasn't been a good year at all, but hopefully we can rebound and get back to some resemblance of normal... :shake

It's nice to see some folks liked the FB forum...given I REFUSE to ever set foot on that place, I ain't got a nickle in that dime...
I have to drive a bit to a range and there isn't good communication on whether it remained open her or not, so it was safer to just NOT go... that and it's not a quality range...IMO... I took my own fold up target and was told if I wanted a bench shot to set up a target at 25 and shoot...now their website makes that sound dicey...Whatever, I may have to NOT renew come January
I like this forum and one other for BP and it also is cyclical... with low points, FWIW...

the ***ONLY*** value that facebook offers the TMA is to redirect folks to the TMA website.
if they don't register at the TMA website, then they are never participating and their "read only" numbers are meaningless to a fair degree.
there have been 49 new forum registrations since the beginning of march 2020. 3 have become contributing members. 15 have posted and 34 have yet to make a post.
so, i see no reason to believe that the demise of the active TMA facebook page has caused any lessening of TMA forum posting. we still have a TMA facebook page as read-only, and who knows where those 49 registrants originated? i will be adding a new mandatory field to the registration, asking how you found out about the TMA.
