Taking a trip
« on: July 25, 2022, 06:22:13 AM »
Greetings all,
Just looking for some advice. I am taking a trip from Ohio to Wisconsin to do some shooting. I've never transported my guns, powder across state lines. Is there anything I should be aware of before doing so?
Thanks

I sure don't think there is going to be any problems with that.
It's something many of us do.  In the 5,300 mile, 9 state trip I just got back from, the only check point I crossed through was coming back into California, and it was just to check for transporting fruits and vegetables.
Enjoy your trip.

They're worried about bringing more fruits into California?  How ironic!   :lol sign

Well, it is the cereal state, doncha know?
Mostly fruits, nuts and flakes here.
Except for the few "normal" people who shoot muzzleloaders. :luff: :luff:

PRB3 - My wife and I have made many trips from SW Ohio to Wisconsin. Not knowing what type of guns you will be transporting, if they might include CCW guns, type of vehicle you will be using, etc., I strongly advise you to carefully go through handgunlaw.us and read all the info pertaining to the states that your route will cover. Be especially careful when going thru Ilinois and there might be some cities you would be wise to avoid, Chicago, for example. It is very easy to break one or more gun laws in Illinois if you are not careful. The good news is that Indiana and Wisconsin laws are not so draconian. Hope you have a good trip.
