My first hawk

This is my first attempt at grinding, polishing and making a haft for a
tomahawk.  Wow is that a lot of work and it's not done yet.

That's for sure a good looking cutting side but I have to wonder if that's a 'bowl' I see on the other side.
Is it going to be a pipe hawk? Or is that just the way I'm seeing the picture?
Either way there ain't no fleas on that dog, in fact it is really nice.

Seems you and metal has this understanding between the two of you. Same as that knife you recently showed us. Really good stuff!

Thanks for the encouragement.  It will be a pipe hawk.  I'm looking for an antique key
to use as a stopper in the cleanout.  I saw somebody else do that and it turned out
pretty good.  The picture doesn't show the turned horn mouthpiece I put on the other
end.  Not happy with my stain color.  I used 800 sandpaper and it's so smooth that
the curly maple shimmers but it won't take stain.  Next time I will stain it after 220 grit
then sand finer and reapply the stain, maybe it will soak in then.
    Don't let you pipes freeze!
