i'm glad you brought this up pete, i been thinkin' of makin' one from a small wool blanket i have. was wondering if they would have been something worn by the mountainmen.

They can be documented for the mountain men who worked out of the Southwest after 1821-22 and many of them (Kit Carson for one) went north to Rendezvous Country at times.
