armsport 1860...?
« on: August 25, 2009, 04:20:54 PM »
at a gun shop there was a 1860 revolver. tag said armsport or armi san marco i can't remember right off. what i did notice was that there was no serial number on the barrel. didn't all these come with matching serial numbers to the frame?
also looked like someone cut the barrel down to about 5".
it is a steel frame and the price was $150. that sound right for a good used one?
thanks in advance

If it's in generally good condition, $150 is reasonable.   I had one years ago, didn't like it.   That's not the pistol's fault, it did what it's  designed to do.  I just didn't like it.

I would not touch a brass framed BP revolver with a borrowed barge pole, let alone shoot one.   Steel frame, OK if it's in good condition.

Mine had the serial stamped in one place only.

European military practice is to put serial numbers or inspection stamps on every surface on a gun that's big enough to take a stamp.   I think it's a method of employing the retarded sons of high officials in jobs where they can do little harm while looking busy and productive.   Have you ever noticed how there's never a shortage of retarded sons of high officials?

The barrel serial number is usually stamped on the bottom of the barrel assembly right where it mates up to the frame.  And the frame number is typically right across the joint from that.
If it is not there, it is most likely a replacement barrel that someone had cut down to make a "Sheriff Model" out of it.
Regarding Three Hawks above response, I wonder why he doesn't want to recognize that the high officials also have retarded daughters that need gainful employment.  Come on now, this is the age of equal rights regardless of age, gender, IQ or number of legitimate parents.  Please be Politically Correct, else the ACLU might get after your case.  If they don't some other alphabet group might.

well, i talked the gun shop down to $120 so i picked this up.
it is an armi san marco. new, with the box. steel frame and backstrap. locks up real nice.

next question; can a kirst conversion cylinder be had or used with these models?

thanks in advance.
