tri corn hat

Does anyone know if a tricorn hat would be correct for the year around 1780 or so for a ohio pioneer/explorer.

or would a more "floppy" felt hat be correct like the painting of the american rifleman posted in another post on down.

A tricorn was the style in 1780 so go for it. I have both and use them both.

At 18 my GF loves whatI do andmake. She goes with me to events and everythig. She realy enjoys y hobby and is always encouraging me. That quality is hard to find in my age group.

Eric. there's two ways to explain it. Either she's into history and into you because you're into history too, or she's into you and will enjoy being with you whatever you do. Either way, she's a keeper. I got lucky with a wife that's both....into me and into history. If finding her used up every bit of luck I'll ever have---totally worth it.

i dont wear a hat ?????? my wife says i look younger ....

 i used to wear a tri corn all the time . In fact my wife bought me one of the props from The patriot , i very nice dark brown with  braded  edging . Like it a lot . But don’t wear it anymore .
Allan Roberts wore it last year up at Monroe though . I thought he look pretty sharp if I do say so
