Well it will ride better the higher you go ...
the farther down the more it'll get to swingun iffin ya be runnin from or too something...
Just re-strapped an old bag the other day... The new horn will ride high.
Hope this helps...

Besides that, if you cover the flap with the horn, everytime you want it the pouch its in the way, I like to mount them about an inch above the flap.if you have 11 to 12" of starp left, thats plenty to swing the horn up for measuring powder.

All of the above, and then some...I generally mount them centered on the flap...or high on the flap....and never below it. The variety used on originals seems to be endless, but I like to put them where they look balanced the best based on the horns shape, and centered on the flap. this rides nice over the swell of stuff in the pouch, and holds the flap shut.  (http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/starvedrocktim/AAC-885_2.jpg)

I like mine just above the pouch so it doesn't interfere with gettin' into the pouch. Now I do not mean to high jack this post, but did you all know we have a celebrity hangin' around here,  T.C. Albert is that fellow who just wrote that new 18th century pouch book for Mr. Scurlock;

Welcome T.C.  :shake  I'll be ordering on of those books for sure.

That's a really good lookin rig Jerry...I like it

Whether the horn is attached to the bag strap or on a separate strap, I like it to ride just above the bag flap so it doesn't get in the way when I need to get into the bag.

Here's my small game rig with a Beaverman "turned tip" horn attached to the strap. I like this little horn by the way, it's small but will carry all the powder I may need for my .32 flinter or 28ga smoothbore for a days hunting.

This one is my big game rig with a large horn on a separate strap. The bag is by Beaverman and the beaver tail flap is weighted to keep it closed.
