Post by: Lonewolfe20 on February 18, 2018, 01:26:55 AM
Hope everyone is doing good in 2018
I was wondering if you guys would post pictures of any nice engraving you have on your rifles stock or hardware
I'm just looking to see how other builders went about it
I will post some that I have taken pictures of for your enjoyment once I get my photo resizer fixed
Thanks everyone

I'm not trying to be a smart ass about this but honestly, there are any number of good books with fine pictures of traditional engraving and carving. When I was building rifles in the 1970's I used existing antique rifles as a template. I would copy a maker's style and in many cases, especially engraving I would copy the original makers engraving patterns.

There are also good books on the art of engraving that will teach you how to sharpen a graver and how to create different effects in your engraving.

Perhaps I'm unclear as to what exactly you want to see from us?
