Your Workshop!!!!!

OK everyone, we've seen photo's of everything you make or have made, now lets see your workshop! I'm going to be building my new workshop this spring, and I would like to see how you set your shops up. I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed here or not, but show us your shop!

Swamp, My current "shop" if you wanna call it that , is a 1 car garage circa 1959. Not really much to speak of. I would however,like to show my bench for gunwork. I got the plans from someone over at the ALR site. It took me 16 hrs to build and it is a STOUT design. Project #2 is on it now.(a restock) I really like it as I dont have to reach over the gun I am working on to grab other tools etc. A very practical design IMO.

My "shop" is currently a folding plastic table that I can move from the dining room to the living room depending what is on television that night...after I clean all the leather scraps and other stuff off of it that is.

well mine   currently gutted and  everything stacked over to one side of my 28X30 shop .
 yesterday they started the fraiming of my new  work room  so nothing i can posta photo of but for a big mess . hopfuly this next week ill be running wiring ,  insulating , hanging sheetrock , or maybe log , i havent made  up my mind on that yet . looks like im going to be down for a month or so

 ill post photos when i get everything back into place

Jeff, I'll post some pics in a couple weeks, my shop has been my daughters warehouse for the last 6 months, she moves out on the 1st of April and then I'll be able to get back in there, one tip, everything you build for benches or machinery or whatever, LOCKING CASTERS!, everything in my shop is on wheels, makes life much simpler in the long run!

Are you sure you really want to see this mess?
Unfortunately, I can't blame anyone but myself.
As soon as the weather clears up a bit, spring gets here, and I get me one of those little "round-to-its", I am going to clean the mess, I may even have it nice enough to actually put a car, or a boat, in it...who knows?

Years ago I found a small niche in the Gunsmithing trade for building stocks....I've been doing it for around 40 plus years as a hobby and side line.

I've always heard that nice, clean, uncluttered shop was the sign of a cluttered mind.   
If that should be true, then I suspect my old mind is as clear as fresh mountain water........... <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" />

Here is a Renegade stock I did last fall for a friend. if you can see it for all the clutter.

Here is a picture of the very last checkering job I will likely ever try.....I'm trough with this. Just ain't got what it takes anymore.
I simply no longer have the hand, or the patience. It's kinda funny with checkering...I do pretty good until I lay a checkering tool inside the layout, and then my hand starts to shake, from there, it just gets progressively worse. Weird!!
21LPI is hard enough with good eyes, and a steady hand. Captchee and a few others can do 21, and I have, on one occasion, even did a 26 which I was almighty proud of.
I sold my Brownells checkering cradle, and this last stock I did was a totally unsupported, free hand, checkering job....NEVER AGAIN!!

This is a modern stock, that I originally built the gun for somewhere around 30 or 35 years ago...the stock didn't turn out too bad, but it convinced me that it's time to hang it up and clean up the shop! 


This is my "Browning Box"....3# coffee can in the bottom, filled with water and a sponge, and a 100W light bulb in the top to keep the heat up when the box is close.

I have! I definitely have...... should've stayed quit once I sold my cradle, that was the intent.
No more slick talkin for that "one more job"...it's a done deal now, over, gone.
It's a young man's game, and it can be very rewarding in terms of satisfaction.

I like that bench, and it does look Heavy Duty!

2locks, its actually easier than it was as there is a browser button available while you are writing yer response to thread.
But I only know one way of doing it lol
