Ok, my grandson Lucas (he'll be 10 in August) and I were out practicing throwing our tomahawk's and you should have seen the look on his face when I "split" the hawk block in half... Seriously... The block is old (probably 15+ years old) and it's been time for a new one for some time now.
Anyway, we're throwing the hawks and my turn came up again, so I threw my hawk and the block split north to south right in the middle.
Lucas says in an astonishing voice, "grandpa you split it in half,,,,,," he had a big grin on his face, and naturally wanted to go take a look at it with my hawk hanging in the middle of the split.
So I started signing, "Daniel Boone was a man, yes a big man" :laffing
Now if you remember the old Daniel Boone TV show - in the opening credits ol' Dan'l Boone (Fess Parker) is shown splitting a tree trunk in half with his hawk...
I couldn't resist..... I think he thinks I'm pretty big medicine right now... LOL!!!

:laffing That would have been cool to catch on video. :hairy :laffing

Yes, that would've been something on video - and I doubt it'll ever happen again. We had fun with it. :bl th up
Lucas said to tell you and Beth, hi! :hairy

Somewhere in my rendezvous pictures I have one of a hawk stuck in the block...handle first.
Yep, it was an old block too.
I'll try to find it.

If you are out throwing hawks with your 10 year old grandson...he's absolute correct: You are definitely Big Medicine. Good work my friend! :hairy
The is nothing better than for younguns to have their Uncle, their Grandpa or someone besides their dad treat them to some "serious bonding time and manly pursuits." It allows them to develop a true sense of "good" masculinity while allowing them to experience the sense of adventure young fellas need at that age.

Now that would be a good picture to see for sure. Hope you can find it Spotted Bull. :bl th up

Oldetexian, couldn't agree more. I think it's very important to spend any kind of quality time with our youth. Regardless if their interest (which I'm lucky here) isn't the same as ours. It's important to make what is important to them - important to us. :bl th up
