how to make a quick--e-z-- and handy powder flask

i wanted something to carrie in my pouch for powder ,but not a bulky horn or big copper flask so after a few days of thinking i came up with this idea  it is so easy  and so cheap and will hold almost 2000gr of 3f more than enough  for a day hunt and is  almost non existent in your bag



the size is 2-3/4"x15/16"--first get an empty kiwi can remove the twist opener then cut a piece of 1/4" copper tube and flare the end a bit .next with a 1/4" bit carefully drill the hole left by the removed twist opener   and mix up some epoxy i use j.b. weld spread the epoxy all around the lid and push the copper tube through the 1/4" hole you drilled cover the flare ( do not get it in the tube and pull the tube up tight now place the two halfs of the can  you have already glued together and wipe off excess lay aside and let dry make sure you keep the copper tube straight.

 when dry take your choice of leather and cut a strip wide enough and long enough to go around the can  carefully cut a round opening to fit over the spout and with a little super glue add enough to keep your leather piece in place  at the bottom where the two pieces meet sew them firmly  now lay your can on the leather and mark around it and cut two circles again useing a small amount of super glue put a drop in the center of your can then center the leather and push it down let dry foe a minuet and stitch with a simple overhand stitch all the way around repeat on the other side  stain  to your color choice  and make a plug for the spout and that is it total time and cost is almost nothing  an option is to age the can first and leave it uncovered  as an antique but make sure you seal the seams good so no powder will leak out  good luck have fun .

Hmmm, only 2,000 grains?  Well, that's enough for 6 shots in the 8 bore.  If you haven't done it by then, it probably cannot be done.

And, it's a very clever idea.

It appears simple enough that even I just might be able to do one.

I can readily see the need for;
A.) Getting rid of that powder horn, as good looking as it is.
B.) Having a small, unobtrusive, container in your shooting bag for a days hunting.
C.) And, of course, that added morale booster that comes with "I made it meself"!

Thanks two bellys, finished my flask tonite. Didn't have shoe polish can so used a round altoids can, and a cut off .223 case for the spout. Will be just right for .32 cal bag!
