Title: Round Ball Ballistics
Post by: Muley on February 16, 2015, 05:50:28 PM
I'm not sure this has been posted before, but here it is again.

Here's a calculator you can download to show ballistics of a PRB. Most calculators don't work well with a round ball. This one is made for them.

Round Ball Ballistics Calculator for Muzzleloaders (http://www.ctmuzzleloaders.com/ctml_experiments/rbballistics/rbballistics.html)

You need to know the velocity for the calculator to work. If you don't have a chrono, but use Goex they have a chart you can get here.

Have fun.

Good information and I got to see just how closely my .50 is to my .54 as far as drop is concerned, using similar (accurate) loads of powder.  I don't pay much attention to energy levels at the distances I hunt at and learned not to compare that with a modern bullet design.  I still find it interesting though.
