Just got this new (to me) original Belgian double gun. It's so nice I just had to share it.
It seemed to be in really good shape and a really nice gun Gold and Silver inlays, everything works, nothing is missing or broken, original (or very very old replacement) ramrod, the bores are even shiny. The hammers are a bit loose but it's still functional. So I'll wait to fix those til after season is over. Apparently, I can't pass up the chance to get ahold of a nice, shootable original for a good price. There were some issues, so I was able to get this within the realm of affordability. At some point the stock was broken completely through the wrist and repaired. At that time the stock was refinished and the checkering re cut. It's a real good job of checkering it was just cut to a point rather than slightly flat top. So, while a good job, is not correct for the gun. Also, the right hammer has had the tab (??) break off and had a less than elegant repair done. That will also need to be addressed after the season.
I never cease to be amazed at the inletting on these old, upper end guns. It makes looking at my work downright depressing. lol
Of course, I doubt the quail will care much. I can't wait to get out and discuss it with them next week. Hopefully some ducks in IN week after next also.

Thanks everybody. I love the thing. It's gorgeous. I fired a couple of round with it over the weekend and it handles great. However, it's the one I mentioned had a stuck nipple. So that has to be addressed too. I'm leaving for IN during Thanksgiving week and I'm going to do the tranny fluid soak til I get back. If it does'nt budge after that then it's drilling time. But I hope not.
Also, I disassembled the lock on the RS and it appears as though whatever broke the hammer also twisted the nub on the tumbler. So, at the same time that the hammer is re worked I suppose a new tumbler will need to be made as well. Still no biggy in the grand scheme of things.

It might be a little late but you might try a product called Kroil.
I got mine on line. It does work well on stuck bolts.
Just an idea.
