Title: Howdah Hunter Double 20

Anybody seen one of these yet. I think it would be just the berrys for a backup at close quarters.

It'd be neat if you could get it in flint but caps would do.

Cool, only problem is the barrels are too short to be legal in Indiana.  Has to be 12" long

Load her with shot fer rabbits n squirrels (close range), or a ball in both barrels and keep her by yer bedroll fer when yer campin  out in bear country.

I've loaded shot in my 16 bore Tower pistol and used it on chipmunks.  I load it with buckshot for "camp protection".

My supplier's been looking for a 20X20 for me and just told me the BATF is going to declare it a sawed off shotgun so there won't be any more available. You'll only be able to get it in 20X50 with the .50 being a rifled barrel.

I'm wondering if the people that already have the 20X20  won't be able to use them if they're not legal?

I'm thinkin there's way too many stupid people in this world with way too much authority.

The ATF doesn't even consider muzzleloaders "firearms". They are considered antiques. I don't see how they can make them "sawed off shotguns" when they don't even consider them a gun.

I have a howda pistol from MTV and it is a blast to shoot. MTV also makes a Flint version. I just use it as a fun gun and never really thought about useing it as a back up for hunting but why not thats what they were originally made for. Buy one and have some fun.

I have  restored several originals of these pistols,the early ones were mostly side lock percussion and came in 12 and 14 gage.The later ones were built with back action percussion locks and the common gage was also 12 and 14.All were sxs with barrels of 8 to 10 inches some were smooth bore but some were rifled.
They were mainly used by officers in the  cavalry and were carried in holsters on the side of the saddle ,these pistols were often refer-ed too as Man Stoppers
Howdah pistols were also carried by big game hunters for dispatching of wounded game.these were mostly rifled.
