Now that you mention it, does anyone have a good recipe on how to make Walnut dye? I would like to have it. Thank's for your time.

Just a though on how to preserve it. What about freezing it????

vthompson i make mine in an old gallon and a half restraunt style coffemaker,i get three gallons from one filter basket full of ground hulls.
RM i tried freezing it once and the color seperated from the water and would not mix back together

I used some last year and when I finished I put it in a milk jug and froze it.

Just add some denatured alcohol to it about 1/4 cup to 2 quarts and it will keep stuff from growing on the top, I have a jar thats 3 years old, no science project growing on it!

make sure you use the 99% alcohol ('bout 2 bottles/5 gallon bucket), NOT the 70%, I've got about 3 1/2 gallons from about 3-4 years ago, 'n still doesn't smell bad and no mold.

Boil it, put it in a mason jar while hot, and put on the lid and ring. It will keep until you open it and crack the seal, and use. Then boil it again and put on a new lid.

I use 70% Isopropyl alcohol nothing can rot in that stuff
