My grandson stopped by this morning and we went out back and got one of the flinters crancked up for 8 or 10 rounds. I could hardly hold the rifle up but it made me feel a lot better. I'm sure my doctor wouldn't be happy but it pleased me. I'd almost forgotten how good that blackpowder smoke smells. Ididn't get any xs but did stay in the black. I'm resting up now so I can clean the gun this evening.

Doctors don't know everything, so if you and your grandson had fun and enjoyed yourselves that's the important thing. :shake

Yes sir...same what Mr rollingb said...just don't wear your self out too much...

A little blackpowder smoke is good for the soul!

Glad to hear you made smoke and enjoyed time with your grandson. what could be better for ya than that?
-
mental health will go a long way toward healing the body

Sounds great Gordon, just be careful.....
Love that smoke smell myself, want to get to enjoy it someday along side of ya!
-
We are working towards that goal as we speak. Thereis always room for another bull on the ranch.

Great to hear you are getting some shooting in, Gordon!
While taking it easy and healing up has it's points, pushing things a little is just another part of getting better!

Seems to me if you got everything in the black then you on your way to recovery. Sulfer and saltpeter has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. Just throw in a little charcaol to be 'organic' and I would think you got some 'good medicine'.
Get well buddy!

More good therapy! Had the CVA flinter out today, just can'y beat the smell of real BP smoke. Tomorrow I think I'll take the " log " out it's the renegade I made into a smoothbore. It's still a caplock but hope to change that soon.

Good on you Gordy! The smell of BP has just gotta be good fer the soul!

Keep us posted on your conversion with the Renegade.

You just tell your doc;
Proverbs 17:22 "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine:
That should hold him for a while. I am very glad you got out and make some smoke, just don't over do it. Now clean that there rifle and do it again, soon.
