Title: Pecatonia River
Post by: Iktomi on April 18, 2009, 10:46:58 PM
I've been looking at some parts sets from Pecatonia River. Price looks right, but I'm curious as to quality and service. What has your experience been with ease of build, service, and quality?

Ikotomi,
I have never dealt with them personally, but I have never
heard anything but positive comments about them.

I would give them a 98% rating.  Have ordered several stocks from them and a few times some metal parts.  One time the ramrod hole was pretty crooked.  Plugged it and redrilled and life was good again.  Didn't even bother telling them about the problem.
Have known Dick for many years and always though him to be a great guy.

I bought a stock from them at Friendship a few years ago and it's top notch!  I don't remember the fellas name, but he helped me pick it out and gave me a real good price on it.  Beautiful curl in it.  I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them. :th up

Well, that almost settles it. If I can get a Jaeger barrel in .62 or better yet, .69, I'll be doin' some bidness with them I think  :)

Just to pitch my hat in I have bought 2 stocks from them and a few parts the wood was way beyond what I expected
They are both in my signature

Good looking guns. Are those the *standard* grade stocks or an upgrade?

No these are not standard grade

The top one is a grade 3 with a flaw (small worm hole in the butt)
The longrifle is a grade 2 with a check crack in the butt

Both flaws were easily repaired and unless you know where they are you don't see them

If you decide to check with Pecatonica once you select your style check and see if they have a defect or wormhole stock you could work with, They have done me right so far and their wood grade is excellent

I have to add my 2.5 cents too. I got a parts kit from them a small while back and am nothing but happy with it. Great parts and great service!
