Here are a couple pics of the Pipe Hawk I finished up for the TMA raffle. It is an R. E. Davis cast steel head I got at the Kalamazoo show in 2010. The haft is nice curly maple, don't remember where it came from. The head was polished and fitted to the haft, and a piece of brain tan was inserted as a gasket of sorts on the pipe side. Finished with R. E. Davis Gun Metal brown and buffed out with 0000 steel wool and some "Just Good Lube" from Ol' Thunder Mfg. Co. Haft was scraped/sanded then a treatment of aqua fortis was applied and over that a coat of LMF Nut Brown stain. Once dried a couple coats of tung oil was applied. The mouth piece is horn, the cleanout plug is a piece of whitetail antler tine. Hope you like it. (Mods may move this to the TMA Raffle forum...)IMG_0576.JPG[/attachment:2d8vehie]IMG_0573.JPG[/attachment:2d8vehie]
