Any one out there have a simple recipe for a cold browning solution? One that takes many coats for a few days to build up a thick coat of rust.....Tom

Tom,
You might check this page for a recipe:

Or, try this thought. In the mid 1990's, I bought Ol' Thunder Mfg from a guy in Portland. One of the products was Cold Brown - to my mind it was the best browning solution I had ever tried. About 10 coats gave the metal a beautiful, dark brown finish. Anyway, last year I sold the business to Fletcher. You might ask him to make up a pint or a quart for you. I did that for a couple of different gun makers and they all really liked it as well.

Tried a PM got "fatal Error" can you email me @ rebar43@gmail.com I'd like to buy a bottle........thanks...Tom

Tom,
I don't know if I would pay much attention to the fatal error message you get after a PM is sent. Seems like everyone who is sending a PM is getting that message, and for some reason most of the messages do go through. That is strictly FWIW.

Yup, been getting the same msg but the pm's go thru. BH

O.K. I'll see if Fletcher got it.....Did you ??? will be gone to Oregon territory for "T" day back sat. in P.M. A good thanksgiving to all, we do still have a lot to be thankful about in this great country............Tom

I got your message and will see how much it costs me to make a new batch.
I was going to bottle it in 2 oz glass bottles, but will see if I have or can get some a bit bigger.
2 oz. should go a long ways.

Thanks Fletcher, 2 to 4 oz. would last me a while...........Tom
