Thank you, sir...most stand-up on your part!
So, then what size stuff do you feed it? Anybody know? I'm gonna be in some card games on the river, with some pretty iffy rascals, and I'll need a little protection...!!! LOL
-
That kinda depends, is it rifled or smooth, front stuffer or cartridge? What does the bore actually measure?
-
It's a muzzlelaoder. Lookin at it right now...does not appear to have any rifling at the muzzle, and a rudimentary measure of the bore shows more like 11/mm, not 12/mm.
-
11mm is pretty darn close to 7/16 or 44 cal. Comes out to .433". There should be balls in the .420" neighborhood with an appropriate patch.
-
Thanks a bunch, R.M...
Looks like it will be "trial and error" to get this right...meantime, "I'll see that and raise ya..."

Do you have any .440" balls, intended for a 45? See if they drop down without a patch. Looks like TOW has a great assortment of balls in that range.
-
Thanks for asking.
I went round and round on this regarding a .44 that I have. I did find some excellent sources for a wide range of diameters/sizes. I'm sure I'll get something to match up. I do wish the bore was rifled, but ce la vie...don't think the bad guys will be any further than 5 paces, or so...

A waiting steed wouldn't hurt, either...

Yer a riot, rondo...!
I won't be drillin on the poor little thing...I don't have my dentist's license...
-
I had one of those little Derringers many years ago,... I drilled it out to 1/2" and shot .490 balls to match my rifle. (it didn't seem to affect the Derringer's 100 yard groups at all
OMG! now THAT really surprises me.
Now ya done it! Yer goin' have Jim Beau trying to make paper at 100yds, with a 1 yd. gun.
Jim, take it from a guy who knows......these guns are actually quite modern and in tune with today's world, they are paperless.
Uncle Russ...

What is yer price on the pocket pistol? I would be interested iffen ya peddle it - specially
iffen I can fresh it out to .50 smooth like Uncle Russ says!!!
-
Wanna make it bark ? shoot lead conicals in it. I have .50 like that & it really packs a wallop with 15 gr. & a 250 gr. ball-et. ...Tom

Well, the other night I cleaned out the bore pretty good. It had been lubed, but there was some rust gunk in there, not too bad...there's still some in there back by the breech, not sure how to extract it. Anyway, the channel is wide open and that's a good thing.
The nipple is a strange little tapered thing. I removed it, though I don't have a proper size wrench. I tried to screw in a conventional nipple, but the threads were a tad too big, so it wouldn't go. Yesterday at the rondy, my bud put a cap on her and tried to get it to go off, but the spring seems a might too weak. Not even sure if #11 is the right size, given the taper I mentioned.
Accuracy? Well, that'll be limited, especially given the fact the post for the front bead protrudes slightly into the bore at the muzzle...! What a riot!

That must be one'a them new fangled "muzzle brakes" that slows down the projectile to prevent bad things from happening. :laffing
-
LOL...I bet I could shoot shot out of it, too.

Cross Table accuracy is all a fellow needs.
Or under table accuracy if that fits your need.
Slug the barrel and measure might take some guessing out of the trial and error.
-
That's what I meant...
