Ok so the old range rod I guess was too long for use last time out. I'd been shooting for an hour or two and was running a dry patch down the barrel to dry things after a cleaning patch... Out comes the rod without the end or the jag
..... I got it out - but my way may leave something to be desired - how have you delt with this dilemma?

On a friends TC Hawken flinter, removed vent liner, poured in as much 4f as I could, and shot it out at a pile of rags. POC.

"Pinning" the ramrod tip to the ramrod is recommended.

CO2 load discharger should also work.
-
CO2 load dis-charger should also work.
What Sneakon said.....works great!

Yup, CO2 or air compressor. Make sure you oil it first.
I shot one out once too, then pinned it when I put it back on!

I've not used the CO2 discharge thingy guess I could justify one in a few instances but then again I haven't a real need as I see it.
My preferred method is - after removing the liner (or nipple) pour powder in the flash hole, using a pick to poke it in, then re-assemble and shoot it out - Ive done it more than once when the wood goes bad or when the pin bends on a bad fouling or with vigorous use.....unfortunately this time the tip and jag over shot the target so its out in the field someplace....Now I get to place an order for supplies and wait for another - good thing I have "several"!! Oh yea - it was pinned!

Nice thing about the CO2 dischargers, is that when I am carrying one I never dry-ball. I am afraid to leave it at home now! I always carry it on outings with the Scouts as extree in-surance
