Title: Inside view of #11 cap going off
Post by: MountainDevil on January 31, 2015, 10:46:10 PM
I made this yesterday with my .58cal CVA Hawken. It uses the Hot Shot #11 nipple and a Remington percussion cap. I always wanted to see what it looks like when the cap fires off into the drum and how much flame actually makes it into the barrel itself. Pretty neat! Next time I will compare a standard nipple and one that I modified with a hollow base.

Pretty neat video.  I'll be looking forward to your next experiment with a standard nipple.

This is an old photo of flintlock ignition looking down the bore.  Not as impressive as a video but it does show that plenty of fire makes it through the vent.  Not my photo, by the way.
