Here is the trailer for the new Hugh Glass movie the revenant. The Revenant | Official Teaser Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX - YouTube (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QRfj1VCg16Y)

I hope to see it down here. He would sure not have been my first choice for actors
to play Hugh Glass... but to see him in the full beard does add a bit of 'manliness' to
him no seen in other shows. Hope that Hollywood does not wreck it with their typical
revisionist history plots.

Daciprio is a very good actor, I think he'll do a good job.
December is a cold and snowy month, some folks like it, hunters mostly

I hear it is well done. We need something like this, hope it lives up to expectations.
-
I read that it was shot with just using natural light and as little cg as possible.
-
this movie has promise. those sure were tough times - and tougher men.
-
I'm looking forward to it too.
-
Looks very good. We haven't had a good movie for awhile. Saw the trailer for the fist time this morning... Hopefully it will give a boost to our sport..
-
I saw someplace it is to be released January 8,2016

My wife,my daughter and I went to see it last night. Better than I expected but I never try and pick a movie apart for accuracy. I just enjoyed it for what it was. Full stocks and a few military long arms were the norm. Pretty hard to see detail with what apparently was mostly natural lighting. Well worth seeing
!

Wonder why they did not shoot it in the summer (August when the mauling happened)
-
Saw the movie and enjoyed it he did a good job as Glass and I thought the firearms looked good as well. I will buy the movie when it comes out
-
Saw it last night and enjoyed it. The bear mauling was so realistic it had me squirming in my seat :hairy

Me & the Mrs. went & saw it yesterday as well. Mama don't care for the gory stuff, I think she only saw half the movie. I am starting to regain feeling in the hand she was holdin onta....
-
I'm going back to see it again tomorrow. Yeah I know..but I love this stuff

My wife and I saw it last night
Very intense scenes we really enjoyed it
Beautiful scenery but not representative of that area of the Dakotas at all
But will also buy it when it comes out
-
I went back a second time with some friends...

I just watched it. It seems there were some parts that were very inconsistent with the story I know. Some glaring like the fact that the attack happened in the summer not winter. But I do have to say the movie was done well and I enjoyed it!
-
Bought the dvd of the Revenant and watched it last night. It was hard to understand what the actors were saying many times, of course HG wouldn't have had much voice after a mauling. Found myself explaining history versus holly wood to my wife most of the movie, which didn't help me enjoy it. So will watch again to try and pick up on more of what was going on. Overlooking the obvious mechanical errors, ( they only flashed out for a short time ), I thought it was a good action movie, as far as academy award performance by LD, not so much. But overall well done and going next to my other mountain man period movies to watch over and over again until some director does another mm movie.
-
Like Greyhunter I just bought the DVD on sale. As all above... good movie for the settings
and the action sake. Decent portrayal of the times. Hope it does spark more public interest
in the Mountain Man era and 'true' frontier history.
As always in movies now, I just try to overlook technical and historical errors -
but always wonder why Hollywood feels they have to change it so much.
One point - the actual story of Hugh has little detail and not much of human interaction
about his struggle to get back to 'civilization', so the movie folks probably felt the 'Alone
in the Wilderness' theme would be a bit to boring for the modern 'need more violence and
drama' audience.
But I did like and and will have another 'My Mountain Man Movies' watchathon one of these
days with another to add to it
