Title: Spanish Miquelet

Enclosed are images of a Spanish Miquelet that may be of  interest to members .This gun was in a poor condition with a broken stock and very rusty ,restoration has only been minimum,but still remains its character

Has promised enclosed are images of the internal workings of this type of lock.These are the same release sytem has the wheel lock  the post or sear is postioned behind the  straight leg of the trigger which when push back  retracts the  lever which holds the hammer at full cock

Interesting.  So it has an external mainspring.  Lots of engineering went into that, no doubt.  Being percussion, I would think it is post 1800.  Would you have an estimate of its date of manufacture?  And the caliber (or gauge)?  
Feltwad, you continue to amaze me with the interesting early firearms that you come up with.  I do appreciate your continued sharing of them with us.

The age of this gun  I would say is 1830-40 although the barrel is much early ,has I said this type of lock was carried through from the flintlock period with the same internal workings  and never changes for a century or more .
Has for the barrel it is  36 inchs long , made of iron and is a 16 gauge,it is a Madrid barrel see image with a crucifix,
the shield would be the maker name, and the other would be his mark , although these have now disapeared i have enclosed a image of  a simular gun that bears these marks.
