Title: It's snowing here!
Post by: Ohio Joe on May 20, 2019, 06:15:49 PM
Well it has rained most the day and now it's snowing. We're under a snow advisory. Big worry seems to be tree limbs that are soaked from rain may start breaking from the snow load... Absolutely sick of this weather. I'd like to see some sunshine and even sweat a bit from the warmth,,, but that's not gonna happen for some time - weather forecast stinks!

Winter Weather Advisory issued May 20 at 3:39PM CDT until May 22 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Cheyenne
Box Butte; Dawes; North Sioux; South Sioux
...POWERFUL LATE SEASON WINTER-LIKE STORM TO IMPACT THE AREA
THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT...
.A strong late season winter storm will move across Colorado
into the central plains through Tuesday night, bringing multiple
rounds of snow. Snow levels will fall Monday evening allowing snow
to spread over the plains tonight and continue Tuesday. Heavy
accumulations are possible, depending on temperatures, with travel
impacts likely as well, especially above about 4500 feet.
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
9 AM MDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 8 inches
expected, especially over higher terrain such as the Pine Ridge.
* WHERE...East central Wyoming into the northern Nebraska Panhandle.
* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 9 AM MDT Wednesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions, mainly
at night. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning
commute. Isolated power outages are possible due to the weight
of the heavy snow on trees.
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can
be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

All I can say is, "Go south west young man!"

I feel for you. Sat on my back porch yesterday afternoon with all my sons and their spouses watching all the grandkids running and playing in the backyard. Weather couldn't have been more perfect.

The forecast for my area:

Maybe this will hold you over for a while.

Well, Joe, aren't you glad you don't have to go to work today?  Minor consolation to be sure, but just the same...
Stay home and dry and warm.
Greetings from the sunny sanctuary state.
John

A very valid point John. Yes, I won't have to shovel at two places... Heck, it's May - I may not even shovel at one place...  :shake

Hehehe, that's what I said in April! " Even if it gets over top of this house, I ain't shoveling another lick!"

I didn't have to worry, as it started raining the next morning, and it rained for 3 straight days!
What a mess that made at the Rifle Range.
Bunch of idiots made the entrance road a total mess with ruts a good 18 / 20" deep.
I'm actually surprised the Club didn't shut down everything!

As the old saying goes; This too shall come to pass.

Stay safe brother, there's an idiot around every corner.

Well I will say, we've had some mighty weird weather the last 6 months. Some days I recall in December and January I only needed a t-shirt, and many a days in March through today, I've needed a winter coat. Crazy weather for sure.

I remember the days when we'd start our local muzzle loading shooting schedule in March at our local Range and it was always nice through October, even into November... I'd hate to try and set a schedule this year, if we still had our local ML group which unfortunately we don't. Everyone pretty much moved on for one reason or another. Probably the only thing that keeps us/me here is our Chadron Fur Trade Days Rendezvous in July every year.

Oh well, it is what it is.

Rondo, I've been watching this weather system / pattern on radar and it stretches from you to me and beyond. At one point earlier we were both in that big mass of "green weather" radar,,, and we are what, 7 1/2 hours from each other. This system is huge!
