Got back last night from the GRE, held in Elliston, VA. Set up my ploughpoint early Friday and didn't leave until after 3 pm Sunday. Had a blast! About 25 or so lodges set up, mostly traders and sutlers, so it was like a mini market fair.
Joe & Terry Ramsbothem of Wooden Ram Cookery pr0vided the food and it was both plentiful and excellent. Also had a detachment of Loyalist militia on hand, as well.
Heat was oppressive, especially in a ploughpoint with no fly. (That will have to be rectified immediately.)
But, I was thrilled to be back in my element. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new folks and making plans to get together at upcoming events. Also think I got my nephew and his sons hooked really good.
Now, I am just trying to figure out my next event. It cannot come soon enough. I love living history...even when it's 95 degrees... :lol sign

Hey Oldetexian, that's great!!! Glad to hear you had a good time and good vittles! :hairy
Like you, I always look forward to the next outing, only in the past when I was a "workin' man" before my retirement - well I was lucky to get my one outing a year in... Now I'm thinking Camp Clark Raiders in Bridgeport, NE (twice next year - Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, and Chadron Fur Trade Days in July)... Yes sir, it's a great hobby / pastime... :hairy
