Title: finished my knife sheath
Post by: prairie dog on March 03, 2020, 11:42:10 AM
I made a rawhide liner from a dog chew.  Traced the blade onto a paint stick, cut it out and wrapped the wet rawhide around that to dry.

Then stitched some elk hide around the liner. Added some veg tanned leather to the top, shaped to grip the handle, covered that with some diamondback snake skin and attached a belt loop.

It's different from the pouch style sheaths I usually make.  It does hold the knife securely and the blade is not going to cut or poke through that rawhide.

Sharpstick.....I really like your bi-line!

I have a bunch I use on emails:

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler. -- Albert Einstein
Complex problems have simple, easy to understand, wrong answers. -- Grossman's Misquote of H.L. Mencken

Sometimes I sits and thinks,
and sometimes I just sits.

Marketing said, "I want an egg-laying, milk-giving, wool-bearing pig."
To which I, with a smile, responded, "You forgot load-carrying."

If it weren't for a crisis at the last minute
you'd never know the project was done.

When the work is hard just think,
"If it was easy they wouldn't need me."

May I be excused?
My brain is full.

CAUTION!
Maximum Assimilation Points Exceeded
Dysfunctional Behavior Imminent

What I send just depends on how I feel at the moment.  :D
