Title: Internet was off again yesterday
Post by: Ohio Joe on May 29, 2020, 07:55:10 AM
As the topic says, our internet "Century Link" was off again yesterday, so we're going to drop these morons and go fiber-optic line (I gotta portal right out back of my house in the ally for connection)... This is getting pretty common it seems with our internet going out...

You live in rural Nebraska and have fiber optic internet right out the back door???
I live in the giant modern metropolis of Phoenix and I'm stuck with, you got it, Century Link.  :Doh!

We're going to switch over to fiber optic (wife already made the call) as our internet was down "again" yesterday afternoon and finally back this morning... We're just waiting on the techs now to get us a date for installation... They are pretty well booked up...

Side note, my wife said her friend told her that some vandals broke into a Century Link brain center and cut a bunch of wires... Whether this is true, I don't know,,, but I do know it's time for Century Link to go.  :shake

Joe, I have had Fiber-Optic for a bit over two years now.
Now here's the thing;  Prior to "installation" , I had been reading that the install itself cost $125.00 that held me back for several years, but one day Century Link went a step to far, because we were down for the better part of 3 days!
That was it for me. I picked up the phone and called I-Fiber......after a few minutes of talking I found out that because I was a Combat Veteran, in a "remote area" meaning greater than 75 miles from Seattle, Portland, and Spokane, with more than 20 months Service, I-Fiber would install our internet for free....just pay the monthly service fee of $47.00.
I told the lady to write it up, I would be right down and sign whatever papers necessary.
She told me not to worry, the phone call, along with my SSAN was all that was needed. My approval apparently happen when / while we were talking......it was a done deal in Less than 15 minutes.
And I have not looked back.

Note: in the past year or so, I-Fiber has extended all over WA State and their hook-up fee has been eliminated completely.
So, my advice to you is go for it!

Russ...

Russ my friend, they said there was no installation fee, so we're on the list.  :hairy
